Apa Itu Narrative Text?
Senang sekali kesannya aku bisa posting mengenai artikel yang berkaitan dengan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris untuk siswa SMP/MTs ialah Narrative text. Teks ini merupakan satu dari beberapa jenis teks(Genre) Bahasa Inggris yang diajarkan di SMP/MTs ataupun di SMA/MA. Sebelumnya penulis di blog Bahasa Inggris anak posting bahan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris di tingkat sekolah dasar. Namun kali ini penulis juga ingin sharing bahan Bahasa Inggris untuk murid penulis yang di MTs. MTs Darul Hikmah Subah.
Sebelum membahas panjang lebar mengenai teks narrative, marilah kita memahami pengertian dari Sebuah teks Narrative itu sendiri. Narrative text ialah sebuah teks imaginatif baik fiksi maupun non fiksi yang bertujuan menghibur pembaca atau pendengar. Teks ini berupa dongeng fiksi, dongeng non-fiksi, dongeng(fairy tales), dongeng rakyat(folktales), dongeng binatang(fable), legenda(legends), mitos(myths) dan sebagainya. Contoh teks narrative di dalam negeri seolah-olah Cerita Malin Kundang, Rawa Pening, Legenda Danau Toba, Kancil dll. Contoh teks narrative dari luar negeri seolah-olah Cinderella, Snow White, Prince Frog dll. Cerita narrative bisa juga berupa dongeng non fiksi seolah-olah kisah hidup atau pengalaman seseorang yang mempunyai konflik yang diakhiri solusi. Cerita narrative teks mempunyai ending baik happy ending maupun bad/sad ending.

Cerita teks narrative hampir sama dengan teks recount namun teks narrative mempunyai problematika yang berakhir dengan resolusi. Teks recount lebih menekankan pada rangkaian peristiwa-peristiwa yang terjadi di masa lampau. Teks narrative mempunyai susuan atau generic structure yang menjadi ciri khasnya. Secara umum teks ini mempunyai struktur sebagai berikut:
Orientation:
Membahas perihal pengenalan tokoh, daerah dan waktu terjadinya cerita.
Complication:
Di bagian ini terdapat permasalahan atau konfilik yang terjadi di dalam cerita.
Resolution:
Berisi penyelesaian terhadap dilema yang terjadi.
Terkadang di dalam suatu teks narrative mempunyai struktur pemanis seolah-olah Evaluation dan Reorientation. Evaluation berisi perihal suatu penilaian terhadap jalanya dongeng yang berlangsung sedangkan reorientation merupakan kesimpulan simpulan dari cerita.
Ketika mempelajari jenis teks ini kita akan dihadapkan pada tenses atau bentuk waktu Past tense yang meliputi: Simple past tense, Past continuous tense, dan past perfect tense. Untuk pembelajaran narrative di SMP/MTs tenses lebih difokuskan pada simple past dan past continuous. Mempelajari tenses satu paket dengan bahan teks narratif.

THE LONELY LANDY STORY
One day, there was a porcupine named Landy. He was lonely. No one wanted to play with him, because they wereafraid of his spikes.
“ Dear Landy. We don’t want to play with you because your spikes are too sharp. We don’t want you to hurt us,”said Cici the rabbit one day.
“ Cici is right, Landy. It is not because uou are bad or rude to us, no, Landy. Just because of your spikes. They will stab us if we ar close to you,”. Said Tito the rooster.
Landy felt lonely. Landy spent most of the time daydreaming at the river bank, “ I would be happy if there were no spikes on my body.”
Suddenly, kuku the turtle appeared from the river. He came to Landy and said, “ Landy, what are you thinking of?”
Oh nothing,” Landy replied
“ don’t lie to me. Landy! Who knows I can help you,” said Kuku wisely. Then he sat beside Landy. He was not afraid of Landy spikes.
Shortly, Landy told hs problem. Kuku nodded his head. He said “ por you. But isn’t your fault. I know, your spikes are very useful and helpful for you. They will realize it someday. Trust me!”
“Thanks. Kuku. You are my best friend”
One day Koko the frog held his bhirthday party. He invited all his friend, including Landy. But he decide not to come. He didn’t want to mees up the perty.
“ I will come with you andy. I’ll tell everyone that you’re harmless” said Kuku. Finally Landy attented the perty. Everyone enjoyed it.
Suddenly Tito screamed, “ help….help….!the evl wolf is coming. Save yoursel!f,” then everyone saved their lives,xcepy Kuku and Landy. Kuku pulled his head and his leg into his shell. And Landy rolled his body into a ball.
Unintentionally, they evil wolf thouced Landy. Of course, the spike pricked him. He screamed, “ouch!”. Since his foot was bleeding, he didn’t chese Landy’s.
“horray….horray…! long live Landy! He savd our lives,” said Cici and her friend. They thanked im from then on. Landy was not lonely anymore.
